Infuriating bug

  • Infuriating bug

    I've found an infuriating bug recently. Whilst attacking someone who has walled in their base that has two paths, one which is to the base and the other leads to a dead end which is walled in. My troops will split; half down the dead end and half towards the base. Splitting my forces even though one route is a dead end.

    I will make a video later on to show its but is this intended? Or is it a bug? I find it impossible to defeat people who have their base set out like this because of my troops splitting up.

    I know it seems strange at first, but that is the AI working as intended. Here is a detailed discussion about circular pathing:

    To summarize, this is because of the interaction between 2 game mechanics:
    1. Hunt for path.
    2. Return to original path.

    It is up to the attacker to break the correct set of walls to break the loop if necessary.

      It does make peoples bases impossible though. Even when my truck has gone down the correct path, my units still proceed down the wrong path towards the dead end! If the truck has entered the correct path the troops should follow?

        Avoid deploying troops if the truck is sitting in a ruins: the ruins will cause your troops to start pathing away from the HQ.

          Can;t help it when the truck has advanced as far as it can down a corridor and the troops go backwards down a dead end

              Just finished an attack where there were two clear routes towards the base, my units turned around to use the longer route then when they got 3/4 of the way there; they turn around to use the other route. Even though both routes are a viable option!
